September 2018 Safety Quiz

Workplace safety starts with individuals being responsible, proactive and having keen awareness of the potential dangers in the work environment. Each month, we provide managers and supervisors a safety calendar and weekly quizzes to discuss with employees in their pre-shift exercises. This practice has allowed us to dramatically reduce the number of workplace injuries over the years. Please feel free to share this post with others. 

When looking at the September safety calendar, please use the attached quiz when called for this week. The quiz below is good for all employees including transportation.  Please document and file, and incorporate more demonstrations this week, especially on basic things like the 3 points of contact

  1. Name (2) things that must be done at an intersection to achieve ALARP?
  2. Describe 3 points of contact?
  3. When is it okay to pass behind a stopped but running tractor in the yard?
  4. When walking in front of a stopped tractor, what should you always do?

 

Answer Key

  1. Stop; Sound Horn; Make eye contact; Look both ways
  2. Two Hands One foot, or Two feet one hand at all times
  3. NEVER!
  4. Make sure you have eye contact with the operator or he/she sees some gesture from you.
