Why Pre-Fill Decorating is Better than Post-Fill Decorating

Written by Will Schretzman | September 25, 2018

You could do your post-fill decorating in-house – undergoing a long learning curve and running the risk of decreased efficiency and increased scrap. Or you could reap the productivity and speed-to-market benefits of letting your supplier pre-fill decorate for you.

The many advantages of pre-fill:

  • No lost batches
  • No lost product
  • Maintains product integrity
  • Increased efficiency
  • Reduced downtime
  • Reduced scrap
  • Outsourcing expertise available
  • Speed to market

Of course, if you have an established business with approved capital spend, installed equipment and/or in-house expertise, then you should consider bringing the decorating in house. However, there are drawbacks to post-fill decorating as well.

Some of the disadvantages are:

  • Increased Downtime
  • Decreased Efficiency
  • Increased Scrap
  • Lost Batches – bad sleeves
  • Lost product – bad sleeves
  • Long Learning curve
