Several Catholic schools in The Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky, gathered new toys, children's books, winter clothing, blankets, non-perishable items, paper products and personal hygiene products to aid those impacted by the recent devastation in western Kentucky. Due to overwhelming generosity from the community, the schools quickly realized they would have no way to transport the mass amounts of donated items to those in need.
As a family-owned company for over 55 years, led by a compassionate and charitable CEO, Paul Verst, Verst Logistics was quick to step in and help, offering drivers, tractors and trailers to haul the donated goods. The Verst trucks headed to Madisonville on Thursday to provide aid.
“Everyone’s heart is hurting for those affected by the recent tragic events. It is great to see the country and particularly Kentucky come together to support those that have suffered so much loss. The team here at Verst Logistics is proud to support the relief efforts by delivering necessities to those who need them.” said Tom Morris, Senior Director of Transportation at Verst.
All donations are being delivered to Christ the King in Madisonville, KY and will serve Dawson Springs, Bremen, Earlington, Princeton and other surrounding areas hit hard by the storms.
“We are incredibly grateful that Verst Logistics stepped up to help Catholic Schools throughout the Diocese of Lexington come together to serve our neighbors in need,” said Miranda Chaplin, Principal of St. Mary School in Paris, KY. “We are so happy to be able to bless others and through this partnership have been able to transport and donate more items than we ever imagined.”
Monetary donations may be mailed or dropped off to the Sisters of Charity located at 40 West Drive, Nazareth, KY 40048. Checks can be made out to Sisters of Charity of Nazareth with an earmarked memo for tornado disaster week.
