Keeping it Safe with Dock Doors

August 27, 2018

Have you ever incurred damage to your warehouse roll-up door because of a truck or forklift?

A cost of warehouse operations and maintenance that is often overlooked is damage caused by vehicular traffic to the warehouse dock doors. The capital spent on the repairs can quickly add up and result in losses in productivity of your warehouse.

Over time, warehouse roll-up dock doors can lose spring tension and lead to the door closing unintentionally and result in a door disaster.

Dock Door Injury

Also, the ropes or straps of the doors are often left laying on the ground when the door is closed and are a hazard to the vehicles inside the warehouse.

Dock Door Straps

As per the pictures below, if the ropes or straps used to help pull doors down are in the drive lane they can wrap around lift truck wheels and cause the door to be ripped out of the tracks and can cause serious injury.

Straps on the floor

Keep all ropes and straps off the floor to prevent fewer injuries to those working around you who are loading and unloading trucks.
